Machining Cold Forgings
Cold forgings is the use of metal plastic deformation principle, under the condition of room temperature, cutting the metal material , putting the blank into the cold forging die cavity, pressuring and velocing in a powerful unit under the action of force, Then the metal blank plastic deformation in the mold cavity, and become a desired shape size and performance requirements of mechanical parts.
Cold forging belongs to the volume of metal at room temperature in plastic forming, its deformation: upsetting, extrusion etc.
Machining hot forgings
Machine forgings is the use of metal plastic deformation principle, in high temperature conditions, cutting the metal material, put the blank into hot forging die cavity, extrusion pressure and velocity at high temperature and strong unit under the action of force the metal blank plastically deform in the mold cavity, then become the to shape and size and performance requirements of mechanical parts.
Hot forging and cold forging belong to hot working, is metal plastic forming .
Difference is forging temperature, Hot forging should consider the material shrinkage, so the size will be bigger, cold forging can be similar to the normal. The two are the basis for the design of mold cavity.
